Lawrence J Appel, MD, MPH is Director of the Welch Center for Prevention, Epidemiology and Clinical Research at Johns Hopkins University. He has three active lines of research: (1) controlled feeding studies, (2) behavioral intervention trials that test novel strategies to accomplish lifestyle changes and (3) cohort studies and trials related to chronic kidney disease and its consequences. In this presentation, he discusses novel approaches to efficiently and effectively deliver lifestyle interventions and considers potential applications for managing other chronic conditions, including hyptertension and diabetes.
