Spotlight

Morgan Kidd, MS, NBC-HWC, is a certified integrative nutrition health coach at the Osher Center at the University of Miami. Trained in community psychology and behavioral health, Morgan brings a deep understanding of the mind-body connection and how culture shapes health behaviors. She helps patients develop personalized, sustainable wellness habits that are both evidence-based and culturally relevant.

Health coaches are valuable members of a care team who often have more touchpoints with patients than referring physicians, which helps patients while also reducing provider burnout. “While a doctor may prescribe certain wellness activities, I can help people develop personalized strategies to maintain wellness over a long period of time,” says Kidd. “I help patients develop strong self-efficacy so they can put themselves in the driver’s seat of their own health.”

Morgan recently traveled to the Osher Center at the University of Vermont as part of an Exchange Grant to learn more about how they embed health coaching into their clinical care model. In turn, Morgan shared insights on how she piloted a 12-week program, “Nourishing the Whole You,” that focuses on integrative health nutrition and whole-person wellness.

“I am grateful for the foundation of support that the Collaborative provides,” says Kidd. “It’s inspiring and motivating to take what I learn from this group and bring it back to Miami to impact our community.”

To facilitate more cross-institutional learning, Morgan is launching a Health Coaching Special Interest Group for Osher Collaborative Members. “My vision for this group is to facilitate interdisciplinary discussions about the role of health coaches in academic health settings and drive positive change for patients and providers.”
