Helen Weng, PhD at Brain & Body NightLife: Consciousness & Neuroscience
California Academy of Sciences
Join UCSF Osher Center researcher Helen Weng, PhD for her presentation on meditation and neuroscience at the California Academy of Sciences, as part of the Academy’s weekly NightLife series.
Dr. Weng will combine experiential exercises with neuroscience research to demonstrate the effects of compassion meditation and breath meditation. She will show how just two weeks of compassion meditation can increase generosity towards others and change the way our brains respond to human suffering. She will also describe new research that uses brain data to identify what we are paying attention to during meditation and is individually tailored to each meditator using pattern recognition technology.
The theme for this evening will be Brain & Body NightLife, which will feature other presenters, yoga sessions, a project lab, and a live DJ set.
